Our divesites

There are loads of not yet explored dive sites along the coast of Mirbat and Salalah because of non existing roads. But we found some very nice and comfortable spots. We will now constantly add more new great dive spots for you with untouched underwater worlds. Be part of it yourself and join us in being one of the first divers at new spots.

The description of the follow three sites gives you a small impression on what is waiting for you – besides a lot more!

Eagle Bay

Eagle Bay is a perfect spot to dive from. Even with strong winds Eagle Bay is sheltered due to its geographical shape and therefore comfortable for diving and snorkelling. From the beach we start our dive over a big sand patch where different species of rays and flounders can be found. After a couple of minutes we reach the beginning of the reef at a depth of 10m with loads of fish life. Parrot-, angel-, bat fish, different species of moray eels, turtles, big sepias and octopuses. The gigantic variety of nudibranches is a must to see for every macro-lover.

    Divesite Eaglebay

The landscape is covered with soft- and hard corals. Often manta mobulas, eagle rays and big turtles can be spotted.

The stunning beach in the lagoon is just ideal for the surface interval between the dives; relaxing, sunbathing, snorkelling or swimming...

Chinese Wreck

Impressive parts of the ship are spread out at a depth of 10m over a length of roughly 250m. This wreck is called Chinese wreck because of its freight, as originally it was a big Portuguese ship – which sank approximately 50 years ago. Some massive schools of fish let the wreck visually nearly disappear. Butterfly-, Queen angel-, bat-, scorpion- and parrotfish, barracudas, big moray eels and groupers are feeling home here. Also puffer- and box fish, sting rays and lobsters are likely to be seen. All macro fans will be amazed about the enormous variety of nudibranches.

Aquarium

The Aquarium keeps its promises. The dive leads you over big and colourful hard and soft corals, along several overgrown rocks to a depth of max. 18m. Octopus and sepias are the all year round inhabitants at that little bay. The immense variety of moray eels and also nudibranches is a highlight for every diver. Big groupers, turtles, eagle rays and dozens of fish schools are to be seen on the way back to the exit point.

Kelp and kelpforest´s

Kelp forests underwater
Almost the entire coastline of Salalah and Mirbat is mostly overgrown with kelp between October and December – which is a new experience for many divers. Often you get the feeling as you would be diving through a forest of sea grass – while diving along some dive sites. The kelp is home and shelter for many young fish and is therefore also called the safe “fish kindergarden”. The whole range can be sighted, from barracuda to the porcupine fish. After December, the dark dying off kelp uncovers the reef with its fresh new colors every year – which also creates a totally new appearance of the dive sites. It gives the impression that you are on a different dive site by every visit.
Not much can be seen of the remaining kelp after February, until it all starts to grow again by June with its fresh light green color, generating again shelter and safety for the new generation of young fish.
