This region is famous for its corals, fish and the kelp. Kelp is growing in coldwater currents during the summer time and dies in the winter with temperatures of 28° up to 30° degrees. After the kelp is gone it gives you a glance at amazing untouched reefs with lots of brain- and table corals, as well as numerous different fish schools. Turtles, octopus, blue pointed- and eagle rays are the typical inhabitants besides. On the top of it you will see moray eels, lobsters, big shrimps and lots variations of different crabs and nudibranches. A must for every macro-lover.

We reach our dive sites by 4WD vehicles, leading us first on a paved road through a magnificent desert landscape between Salalah and Mirbat. There is the beautiful coastline on one side; on the other you have the impressive Dhofar-mountains. Road crossing camels, goats, donkeys and cows are often the reason we have to stop on the way. Just after Mirbat we take a turn onto a gravel road, which leads us through wadis with plentiful of different birds – such as flamingos, pelicans or storks. With all those things to discover the time just flies by until we park the car at a beautiful shore for diving.
